A saturday adventure...just our style!

Good Evening Readers!

J and I had quite the adventure this Saturday, which I am here to report on.  We started off early (okay, that's a lie, it was 11) and our first stop was this European style market which opened semi-recently here on Capitol hill, Melrose Market.  It's adorable, fancy, and full of good things to eat, drink, and look at. It is divided into smaller shops, a butcher counter, cheese shop (our collective favorite), a little sandwich place with pre-wrapped sandwiches on the counter a la Barcelona, a little bar, flower shop and in the back a restaurant called Sitka and Spruce.  We headed there for a delightful brunch which involved tons of bread, cheese, scones, coffee, and the most delicious butter with salt flakes on it.  Needless to say we got our fill of carbs!!! The menu at Sitka and Spruce is small and very specialized so if you are not a foodie or not adventurous then maybe this is not the place for you. But, I implore you to embrace your adventurous side, you will not be disappointed!

The ambiance was lovely, we felt like we were in a quaint european kitchen in the home of a stylish middle aged couple or cute old lady (okay, this is my weird assessment, J did not mention the middle aged couple or cute old lady). Anyhow, if you're in the Seattle area I highly recommend a trip to Melrose Market, at least to look around. J and I have signed ourselves up for some sort of cheese tour around the greater Seattle area in February, sounds like heaven if you ask me!!

Next up on our adventure was a trip to Pretty Parlor which is a vintage store on Olive Way.  It is definitely not a thrift store (ie the prices do not persuade one that they could buy a cheap blouse and make it look fabulous...stifled my adventurous side just a bit with the price tags) but, none-the-less they have fabulous things.  From what we gathered in talking to the sales associate is that they do a lot of refinishing/repurposing and general fixing up of vintage things.  J got a beautiful hand-dyed lace slip, she'll have to post her outfit when she wears it! They had tons of fun hats and great jewelry.  Although it wasn't exactly either of our styles we had a fantastic time there and will definitely go back.  We also met a fabulous cat, Petunia, who lives at the store.  She was beautiful and I could just tell she was fancy so I dressed her up and played with her, it was a bit ridiculous.  Here she is with a lovely feather hairpiece on!

In all honesty the sales associate was likely a little alarmed with how much I liked this cat...hehehe.  After kidnapping Petunia,  J and I headed downtown to do a little Christmas shopping and general wandering around.  It was a lovely day had by all!  Hope everyone's week started out well.
