I am blogging for the second time in one week, this is quite the monumental moment if you ask me. Up first: food! I just finished reading this fantastic book called A Homemade Life. It is filled with a bunch of wonderful short stories written by a young woman who lives in Seattle. The stories all center around one of my favorite subjects, food, and at the end of each story/chapter there is a recipe or two which was the subject or somehow involved in the previous story. The author, Molly Wizenberg, writes in such an engaging and sweet way. She has a blog too, called Orangette, which is similar to the book in that it contains both recipes, stories, and, a bonus, photos!!! So, I made one of her recipes this week, slow roasted tomatoes with coriander. They baked for 4 hours in the oven and during those 4 hours a transformation occurred, light red, out of season Roma tomatoes turned into deep red/brown, delicious sweet and savory morsels....yum... to say the least! Here are photos of the before and after (with the remaining contents of my dinner). I suggest you try the tomatoes and the book and blog too while we're at it!
Before
After....oooooooooo
Second order of business: feeling fabulous! So, I was inspired, yet again, by my sister Kara and her guest OOTD on Monday. I loved her lipstick! But, being not as edgy as Kara I knew that I couldn't pull off that color but I ventured out to Target on Monday evening in search of my own shade. I found Temptress from the Revlon Vintage Collection. I love it and it reminds me of the Coco Chanel advertisement that is in about every magazine lately and I love the way that lipstick looks in the advert but it is a) extremely expensive and b) not that lovely on me. But, this shade has helped me to achieve this look...well sort of.
**okay, you can't actually see the color that well, but it's lovely, trust me!
And finally...I'm sure you all know that Seattle got hit with quite a snow storm last week, and the world literally stopped!!! I took Maple for several walks in the snow and she really enjoyed it in spite of how she looks in this photo. I sent this to my mom last week and she said that Maple looked traumatized.
**I promise that Maple will not be featured in every blog post!
Happy almost weekend! G

She does look traumatized. I just want to hug her!
LOVE the lip color!

the polish is OPI Sahara Sapphire.
I found the lipstick in a display which was not next to the other revelon stuff...like it was on one of those small cheesy displays that they set on the counter or something. I actually thought of writing that in the blog entry so thanks for bringing that to my attention Gabby. Also, kara said that it was a new line so it may not have reached Texas at this point :(
giving maple a hug would put her through even more trauma!
