OOTD: If the shoe fits... You keep em!

Happy Tuesday Readers!

Today I actually have for you my legitimate OOTD. Yup, I managed to take a photo of my outfit and post on the same day! Star for me!

Today's outfit features a nice little surprise. I longed after the Small Doses Heels ever since they hit the website. But I did what I always do (and then swear to never do again) and I waited too long and they sold out in my size. Sigh. But then the went on sale last week, and they still had some lingering around in a half size larger than my size so I decided to try them out. And what do you know, they fit! That never happens! And they are comfy to boot! (Ignore the online reviews).

Shoes: Small Doses Heeel, 5 1/2 (2010, $90 on sale)

Skirt: Unknown Anthro Skirt Just Right Skirt, 6 (2010, $60 on sale)
Shirt: Anthro Drenched Helenium Tee, M (2009, $30 via EA Trademarket)
Cardigan: United Colors of Benetton, Navy S (2005)

Have a good night! I am off to watch the Huskies play ball (basketball, that is).

A Guest OOTD!

Hello Readers.  I would like to apologize for being so delinquent with the blog posts lately.  I have been consumed by entirely too much food for approximately the last five days....ugg.  I went to hot yoga on Saturday and I am confident that I was sweating out pie and cookies (too much information...sorry).

Anyway, my younger sister, Kara, who is a freshmen in college is quite the fashionista.  Although our styles are completely different I am constantly in admiration and appreciation of her bold, brave, creative and interesting sense of style.  She sent me her outfit today, thinking it may be blog worthy and here it is, dorm room and all!

American Apparel tube dress (Shade:asphalt)
thrifted floral skirt
 tye-dye leggings
revlon retro collection lipstick (Shade:siren),
Georg Jensen pendent
Urban Outfitters buggie necklace

Have a Lovely week and thank you Kara for the OOTD!!

OOTD: Harry Potter Office Chic (???)

Happy Monday Readers!

As promised here is my Harry Potter outfit from last Thursday. G and I attended the Imax Midnight Premier last Thursday (yawn... sorry I am still catching up on sleep). Here is what I wore during the day to get in the Harry Potter spirit.

Unfortunately, I was unable to take the day off (such is life), so I had to make my outfit "office appropriate." I decided to go with the obvious choice and dress around Gryffindor house colors- red and gold. I then added Harry Potter-esque accessories to have some fun. I even wore my hair wavy and uncombed a la Hermione!

Cardigan: Urban Outfitters Mustard Yellow Cardi, M (2010, $38)
T Shirt: Nordtrom Halogen Red Crew Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirt, S (2009, $38)
Skirt: Anthro ???, S (2010, $88)
Tights: Anthro Hue Red Tights, S/M (2009, $9.99 on sale)
Shoes: Steve Madden Black Mary Janes, 5 (2006, xmas gift)

Ring: Vintage Inspired Owl Ring, Seattle Capitol Hill Boutique (2010, $12)
Necklace: Anthro "Golden Snitch" Necklace (2009, $9.99 on super sale)

Grete has all of the pictures from the premier so stay tuned for a second post covering G's outfit and details about our night out.

Cheers!

Oh, and Seattle is experience a bit of a snow storm right now- so stay warm and drive safe people!

OOTD: Spotty Dotty

Happy Thursday Harry Potter Movie Release Day Readers!

We here at Sometimes Sunny are big Harry Potter fans and we are very excited for tonight! We have had our midnight Imax tickets for over a month now and we are geared to go! Sadly, I won't have time tonight to post a picture of today's Harry Potter themed OOTD (I will be in line with all the other Potter Geeks, duh!). But stay tuned, I will have pics of both mine and G's HP themed outfits and pictures of our movie adventure.

But for now, here is what I wore on Tuesday... Please excuse the headless picture... my hair was in no mood to be photographed.

Cardigan: J Crew Jackie Cardi, S (2010, $62)
Blouse: Nordstrom Dotty Blouse, S (2010, $38 on sale)
Belt: J. Crew Skinny Belt, Pink S (2009, X Mas Gift)

Have a good night!

Weekend Adventure (wait...it's already wednesday?) and an OOTD

This weekend J and I had a lovely Saturday afternoon together.  We were sitting at my house chatting and tormenting my pup and I told J that I had a confession...I wanted to go to Bellevue to go to Anthro because I had seen photos of the store on other blogs and it looked more adorable than the average Anthropologie.  Bellevue is not somewhere I typically venture to, in typical "true Seattle" elitiest fashion I think Bellevue, a city which is merely across a mile long bridge over Lake Washington, is not actually considered Seattle and therefore I do not like to visit. Anyway, I got over my bad feelings and we ventured out.  I was right in my estimations that the Anthropologie was adorable.  It had tons of stuff and was arranged in a really cozy and intimate way so I would suggest making a visit if you are in Seattle!  We came across some great finds and J also found her soulmate in chair form. She sat in it for entirely too long, I think the sales associate was genuinely afraid that we may try to stuff it into our purses or something :)

And, here is my OOTD.  I got a great deal on these tops over the weekend.  I couldn't decide if this sweater was actually ugly or surprisingly cute.  I have a strange pattern of being drawn to such questionable items.  I decided, with J's help, that it was actually cute ??!!

And here is a photo of Maple...because I'm slightly obsessed.  Enjoy the remainder of the week.  J and I and her friend Pam are going to watch Harry Potter at midnight tomorrow.  We'll be sitting next to fully costumed 12 year olds and loving every minute of it!!

OOTD and a Lesson in Layering

Today I am working from home and kicking it in stretchy pants (that I may or may not have slept in last night), so I won't be posting today's outfit. BUT, lucky for you I snapped a photo of Wednesday's outfit.

I bought this dress only because it went on sale. I was not particularly enamoured with either this color, or the other "neon salmon" color. But you know, I saw it go on sale, and everyone else was buying one, so I jumped on the Tiny Windows bandwagon. I actually bought this ages ago (it has since received a second price cut) and it has been sitting in my closet ever since. I kept meaning to return it, but something always held me back.

On Wednesday I had one of those "I have nothing to wear" moments that only something with the tags still attached could cure. So this dress finally got a chance to prove that she was worth keeping around. I think she made her point quite well, don't you think?

Dress: Anthro Tiny Windows Dress, Lilac 4 2010 ($60 on sale)
Belt: Anthro Three Beacon's Belt (aka Magical Belt), Dark Brown S 2010 ($34, buy here)
Tights: Anthro Berry Bush Tights, Purple S 2009 ($18)
Shoes: Seychelles Veronica T-Strap, Black Multi 6 2010 ($90)
Scarf: ???

And now this message will be interrupted for a brief lesson in layering (umm, ok maybe not a lesson cause its not like I have any special knowledge on the subject, but this is just how I layered that day):
Step 1: Add light layer to survive low office temps:

Cardigan: Anthro Roaming Frills Cardi, Beige S 2010 ($40 on sale)

Step 2: Add Layer # 2 to survive the very cold climate that totally crept up on me... where did our Fall go? OK, so it did come back on Thursday. But Wednesday was so very cold!

Coat: United Colors of Benetton, XS 2003 ($178ish)

And now back to our normal programing...

Oh, and this is only the second time I have worn these tights. I bought both colors (purple and black) last year and I am terrified of getting a run in them! So I have been keeping them tucked safely away in my tight drawer in individual plastic protection baggies like a crazy person. The black tights haven't even been touched yet! If one of the beagles even so much as glances at them the wrong way, so help me.... Anyone else out there a little crazy about their tights?

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will be spending Saturday practicing my "dance" moves ala my new Kinect game Dance Central in preparation for a bachelorette party on Saturday.

Broke the Ban (and an OOTD)

Happy Thursday Readers!

You may have noticed that I stopped mentioning my shopping ban. Well, it is because I failed. Miserably. There were several factors that contributed to this, one of them being that My Beacon of Light, aka My True North, aka My Shopping Angle on My Shoulder, aka G took a mini vacation from my life. And that mini vacation came at the worse possible time because I happened to come across these little beauties:

Chie Mihara Sapphire Gem Heels, 6

I stumbled across these sirens when I was casually browsing the sale section. They sang to me and I could not resist their call. So I followed my desire, and I reached out and touched them. And then I tried them on. And then I crashed onto the rocky shores of spending doom.

Uh yeah, I bought the damn shoes.

But let me tell you, I do not regret the purchase at all! I love, love, love them. And I know they will be with me for years to come. So I have officially used my emergency exception. No Uggs for me until mid-December. I think I will live.

Anyways, on to my Outfit of the Day Tuesday...

Skirt: Anthro Tria Sweater Skirt, S ($128, buy here)

Cardi: Anthro Beribboned Buds Cardi, Purple S ($50 on sale)
Top: Anthro ???, Navy S ($30 on sale)
Belt: Snakebite Belt, Grey S ($32)

And a close up of the shoes (cause I know you wanna see the shoes):

Tights: Anthro Mystery Tights, S/M ($18, not online yet)
Shoes: Chie Mihara Sapphire Gem, 6

Have a great night!

OOTD - Rose on my Toes

Good Morning!

So, here is my OOTD, well actually it was yesterday.  I have either been dressed in boring office clothes lately or dressed in super casual, un photo worthy, clothes.  Today I believe I have finally dressed in an outfit worthy of an OOTD.  However, my photos are completely pathetic.  My bedroom, which is the only place that has a full length mirror has no overhead light, resulting in poor photos.  My office has only a short mirror and my bathroom....well...you can see, not ideal.  I even tried Trader Joe's.

Dress: Anthropologie, Spring 2010
Sweater: JCrew, Winter 2009
Belt: Anthropologie, Spring 2010
Necklace: Gift from my Sister!
Shoes: Banana Republic, Winter 2009

And, here is a tip for you ladies who may be a little full in the chest area.  The buttons on this dress would pull a little, like everything I try on with buttons, and I didn't want to size up because the rest of the dress fit perfectly so I took it to my tailor and for $10 she sewed the whole thing shut, but you can't even tell, other than it doesn't gape!!!  It was a pretty genius moment on my part!

Have a lovely day.

Guest OOTD

My friend Laura showed up for dinner Friday night in a fabulous outfit. When I started to rave about it, she joked that her husband had said that the outfit was "Blogworthy." Well, duh! So we scurried off to find some better lighting (in the bathroom... hmmm there has to be a better way!) and snapped some photos. The toilette kept getting in the way... so here is the best shot.

How cute is she!?!?!?! I love the balance of shine (blouse) and pattern (skirt) and texture (boots/belt). Style perfection! The only issue I have with the outfit: I let that blouse get away!

I have the same blouse in navy. Every time she wears it, I whine about how I wish I had just bought the damn thing in the champagne color way too. Sigh. I guess being blouse twinsies just isn't in out cards.

OOTD

Happy Monday readers! I hope you all successfully fought off those blues. I am kicking this week off with my outfit from Saturday. I spent the day leisurely reading magazines at Barnes and Noble and window shopping. It is the first weekend in a long time that I have not had to work. Yay for free weekends!

This outfit is a remix from an outfit I wore here. To make it appropriate for our nice crisp Fall weather, I swapped heels for boots and added tights and a scarf. Easy peasy!

Dress: Anthropologie Perilla Dress; Beige, S (2010, $60 on sale)
Cardigan: Anthropologie Blooming Lattice Cardigan; Navy, S (2010, $50 on sale)
Scarf: Anthropologie Wriggly Wrap, Butter cream (2008, $20 on super sale)
Boots: Anthropologie Martingale Boots, 36 (2010, $238; Buy here)

Every year Anthro comes out with some version of the Wriggly Wrap. I fell in love with this butter cream color from 2008. $98 is out of my "scarf budget," even if said scarf is made out of the softest, prettiest cashmere. So I waited and waited and waited for this little scarf to go on sale. All that waiting paid off because I scored it in Anthro's huge after Christmas sale for $20!!! You can buy this years version here. I am partial to the lilac colorway.

That's all for tonight. BF got the Kinect, and G and I had fun playing with it. So stay tuned for some wacky pics of us is some very interesting positions. Just you wait till we get out virtual dance on!

OOTD

Happy Thursday!

Yesterday afternoon things finally slowed down at work. I am just catching my breath, because I am pretty sure that things will pick up speed again next week.

Anyways, I had a minute yesterday to snap a picture of my outfit. I went deep into the depths of my closet and pulled out one of my favorite Anthro blouses from a couple years ago. Sadly, this little top has not been getting enough attention.

Meet Anthro's Midnight Sun Blouse (circa 2008). Swoon! I stalked this blouse for months. I considered paying the full original $98 price tag, but back in 2008 I just could not justify that price on a student budget. So I patiently waited for it to hit sale and I snagged it at 1/2 off! I love it when I get the Anthro goods for 1/2 off!

The color is definitely different IRL. The "half-moons" in the product shot appear to be a brighter red. But as you can see from the pictures below, they are really closer to purple.

Also, as you can see the blouse has a pretty serious v-neck. The first time I wore it I thought I could get away without a cami. Big mistake! So now I always pair it with a neutral skin-toned cami.

And here is how I wore the blouse yesterday. I kept it simple with black crops (we had sunshine!) and some amazing shoes. Since my office is kept on the cooler side, I threw my amazingly versatile roaming frills cardi over it. I think it worked out pretty swell!

Blouse: Anthro Midnight Sun Blouse, 4 ($40, 2008)
Pants: Gap Black Crops, 2 (old, old, old, back when 2s were bigger)
Shoes: Seychelles Countdown T-Strap, Size 6 in Whisky Multi ($90, here)
Cardigan: Anthro Roaming Frills Cardi, Small ($40 on sale, March 2010)

Did ya hear? Anthro is having a huge sale!

So head on over to the website and check it out.

What did I get? Well, considering my shopping ban, my options were limited...

So the Babergh Dress finally went on sale, and even though it sold out online I decided to test fate and call CS. If we were meant to be, I would be able to locate one in store. And we were truly meant to be, because it took me all of 5 minutes to find one in New York.

Anthropologie Babergh Dress (now $89.99, sold out online)

Readers, I just could not let this dress pass me up! I love, love, love it. But when I tried it on, there were definite fit issues up top which would require alterations. At the time, I was not willing to pay the full $188 plus alterations costs. But a 50% price slash, sealed the deal.

But I am on a shopping ban, so how can I pull this off? Well, it just so happens that the Rensselaer T-Straps also went on sale. I bought these ages ago full price. Since they made it to sale in my size (which I never thought would have happened), I will be able to get a PA*. And the PA will cover the cost of the dress! So no money spent, and I am still within my shopping ban.

Woohoo!

Anthropologie Rensselaer T-Straps (now $70)

*Note: Not all stores/SAs are willing to do this. But I am lucky in that the SA's at the BMs I go to are generous. I have to show that my size is actually available at sale price (which sometimes means purchasing it again at the sale price).

Happy Halloween...late but worth the wait

Hello All!  I hope you had a lovely halloween.  As I was working today I was daydreaming about the fact that to my great disappointment my teeth were not crying today due to a huge consumption of candy...I guess I missed out on the treats this year.  I did not, however, miss out on dressing up outrageously.  Two friends and I dressed up as the 80s cartoon Jem and The Holograms. Enjoy!
