Do Over! (OOTD)

Don't you just hate it when that beautiful, cool, perfectly styled outfit that you develop in your mind turns out to be one big, fat, dud? I certainly do.
Well, that is what happened to me today yesterday. I wanted to showcase my pretty new slip that I picked up from the Pretty Parlor (see this post)  so I thought to pair it with my Mimetic Skirt and Berry Bush tights. I had the bottom half done, but I just could not figure out what to do with the top half. After going through several variations, I settled on a white ruffle shell and a blush studded cardigan, both from J. Crew. I knew something was off, but I was running really late and had to dash. I ended up with this:

Skirt: Anthro Mimetic Skirt, Black 4 (2010, $50 on sale)
Slip: Pretty Parlor Vintage Half Slip, S (?, $45)
Tights: Antrho Berry Bush Tights, Purple S/M (2009, $18)
Shoes: Steve Madden Mary Jane Pump, Black 5 (2005, gift)
Blouse: J. Crew Ruffle Shell, White 0 (2010, $30 sale)
Cardigan: J. Crew Studded Cardigan, Blush S (2010, $60 sale)

This outfit was ALL sorts of wrong. And it made me feel frumpy all day. I pretty much hid in my office all day. G totally confirmed how much this outfit sucked when she stopped by to hang out and watch TV.

I thought it would be a great idea to rework the outfit into something that did work. I swapped the cardigan out for one in a similar color. My Cartography Cardigan was much shorter so it worked better proportionately. I also swapped the shoes. The final product:
Skirt: Anthro Mimetic Skirt, Black 4 (2010, $50 on sale)
Slip: Pretty Parlor Vintage Half Slip, S (?, $45)
Tights: Antrho Berry Bush Tights, Purple S/M (2009, $18)
Blouse: J. Crew Ruffle Shell, White 0 (2010, $30 sale)
Shoes: Anthro Brandy Mid Boots, 6 (2010, $248)
Cardigan: Anthro Cartography Cardigan, S (2010, $42 sale + bday discount)

Much better! This is something I look forward to wearing again in the future. Oh, and in case you were interested, here is a close up of the vintage slip I bought. It has been hand dyed a lovely shade of brown with purple undertones. I could hardly wait two days before I worked it into an outfit. A good sign of a happy future together.
Cheers!
