Spoiled Saturday (in a good way!)

Yesterday was filled with some of J and my favorite things...food, fashion, fabulous...to name a few.  We started the day off, bright and early, with a cosmetic "fashion" show at Nordstrom.  J found out about this event while shopping with her mom at the Chanel counter back in August and she promptly signed us up.  The show started at 8 and went until about 9:15.  They showed a lot of the new trends for makeup and skin care and we both realized this is an area which we both lack knowledge, or at least I do.  It was interesting to hear about all the new products and made me want to be brave enough to try the seriously smoky eye or magenta lip (what we were told is the new red) on myself.  Here is a photo of the show from our seats, we're in the back because we were a little late..oops!

After the show we hurried downstairs to collect our FREE Clinique lipstick (always a fan of free things) and to have an oxygen peel done by the reps from Philosophy.  Now I'm not exactly sure of the science of this peel, and I'm not too sure the person applying the peel was either, but it had something to do with oxygen and hydrogen peroxide and water...something like that.  Anyway, it was lovely and left us feeling fresh!!  Here is a photo of us with the masks on, looking ridiculous.  We told the person that we needed a photo for our blog and they must have thought we had some fancy blog going on because they were intent on us holding up their product.  Seriously though, the peel was good and had a great price point if you're not looking to get serious and get a full facial.  I recommend.

Our final stop that morning was to the Chanel makeup counter for a "makeover."  We had a lot of fun getting our makeup done and learned a lot too!  What better way to spend the morning than getting a little glam.  We forgot to take and "after" photo but here is me getting my makeup done.

After the event we had lunch upstairs in the Nordstrom Cafe which has surprisingly delightful food and you can get a half order of the pasta dishes, thanks J for the tip, and it is actually the perfect size for lunch.  We popped in to JCrew and Anthropologie and picked up some goodies, stay tuned for a future OOTD featuring an amazing new boot purchase for J!!!  Later in the afternoon we stopped by Red Mango and got some fro-yo with way too many toppings and took it up to the movie theater.  J and I used to take Cold Stone before the movies all the time and sneak in our ice cream but they recently closed so we've had to resort to the healthier alternative of Red Mango, although the aforementioned toppings probably reduce the "healthy" aspect.  We watched The Social Network, the movie about Facebook.  It was actually really interesting and well done, in both of our opinions, and I would suggest going to see it.  Later in the evening we hung out at J's and watched Sister Wives, the new show on TLC about the polygamist family.  Both of us were really curious about this show and are fans of Big Love, the fictional show about a polygamist family, and so we were interested to see how this family dynamic would work out in real life.  I have to say we were both very surprised how "okay" we felt with the whole situation and they actually seem to be quite happy and functional, I guess I didn't expect that.  Anyway, I am finally done with the marathon Saturday debriefing, sorry for the long post!

Have a lovely Sunday!
G
