Cookies, Clothes, Polygamy, and Puppies

Good Evening Readers!!!  I am feeling particularly ambitious to endeavor to blog at 11pm.  As per my title, I have several things to discuss this evening...

1. Cookies:  Yesterday evening I baked the most delicious and autumn inspired cookies.  My dear friend Cathie first turned me on to these babies about a year ago when I was in town for work and stayed with her.  She always spoils me and one evening we (read: she) whipped up a batch of these.  The are pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that actually are fluffy, more like a cake.  They are delicious and not too sweet or too much pumpkin flavor or....well....they are perfect.  Here is the recipe for Cathie's Pumpkin Perfection Cookies...1 cup canned pumpkin, one cup white sugar, 1/2 cup vegetable oil ( i do a straight substitution for apple sauce and you cannot taste the difference...except they taste better because they contain less guilt), 1 egg, 2 cups all purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips.  Combine the pumpkin, sugar, oil and egg in a separate bowl and stir.  In another bowl stir flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.  In a small cup dissolve the baking soda in the milk (if you mess this up and don't do this they will still turn out...I forgot this step last night...and this is why baking usually ends in disaster for me).  Stir the baking soda and milk into the wet ingredients and then mix in the vanilla and chocolate chips and combine the wet and dry ingredients.  Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.  And here, my friends, is a photo!!!
**an actual batch of these cookies is quite larger
than what appears on the plate...an intruder must have
come into my house last night and eaten about 10 cookies ;)

2.  Clothes:  My outfit of the day contains the Two Paths Trench, the most fantastic jacket I have ever owned.  A quick story, I purchased this trench as a birthday gift to myself, ordered it from a store as they were all sold out online and then waited and waited and waited and it never came.  I called to see what the hold up was all about and come to find out the sales associate had written down my card number incorrectly and there were no more jackets anywhere.  I was so sad because I loved this jacket so much.  But, as luck would have it as I was shopping at Anthro the next month, with my 15 % of birthday discount card in hand they had one jacket in the store...my size and on sale!!!  Fate!  J also owned this coat at some point...and she loved it...but it didn't work on her and so I secretly get a thrill out of making her jealous each time I wear it!
Also, although the photo is a little dark it also features my $20 boots.  I was living in Idaho for a brief stint over the past couple of years and the Macys there had a sale once a year where they brought in shoes from all over the country and each pair was only $20...hence the boots.  Definitely money well spent!

3.  Polygamy:  Last weekend I discussed how J and I had watched the first episode of the TLC show Sister Wives and how we were both impressed by how functional it all seemed.  Well, after watching episode 2 this evening we were both singing a different tune so to speak.  The family is bringing on a fourth wife and let's just say that the women didn't seem as empowered or as in favor of the whole thing as they were initially portrayed to be during the first episode.  I do think that this show is going to be interesting to watch though because the people all seem really honest and that they are being up front about who they are and how they feel.  Stay tuned!

4.  Finally...Puppies: okay, one puppy I guess.  I brought Maple over to J's this evening and J loves to cuddle her...and torment her...as frequently as possible.  This evening Maple jumped up on the couch with J and they were having a moment and I couldn't resist snapping this shot.  It's actually priceless because Maple is an extremely weird dog and actually doesn't like people really at all.  Her list of humans that she will even tolerate has about 5 names on it, luckily J and I both made the cut!!!

I have to get more concise at this blogging thing...I am not efficient with my vocabulary!!!
Have a delightful weekend!!! G
