OOTD and a Shoe Love Story

I totally "stole" this outfit from a reader submission to Anthroholic's weekly reader outfit post. But it was so cute! And I had both of the main pieces. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself!

Dress: Anthropologie Perilla Dress in beige, Small (Bought on sale, $60)
Cardigan: Anthropologie Blooming Latice Cardigan, Small (Bought on sale, $50)
Shoes: Anthropologie Waving Grains Pumps, Size 5 ($148)

Getting my hands on these shoes was an ordeal! I knew I wanted them the second I saw them (they don't make many pumps in a size 5!) but I waited just a little too long (why? why do I do this to myself!?!?!?)... they were sold out before I could buy them! I panicked and bought the 5 1/2 hoping they would work. As I was waiting for my shoes to arrive, I saw a couple reviews go up on the website saying they ran big! My heart sank!

And of course, they were too big! I called CS and begged them to tell me these shoes would be reordered or to at least locate a store that had one lonely size 5 return. No such luck. I called bright and early every Monday morning for at least a month! Nothing. As hope vanished, I clung to my pair of 5 1/2s, refusing to admit defeat. I started researching methods of making shoes that were just a little to big, work.

Then, after diligently checking my wish list for a pop up- there they were! I couldn’t believe my eyes! My fingers were speed dialing CS before my mind even recognized what was going on. A lovely lady helped me place the order, warning me that there was just one shoe in stock, and my order might get canceled. I confidently told her that I knew that would not happen - these shoes were meant to be!

And readers, we were meant to be! They fit perfectly, and they are so comfortable! I wore them all day, and not once did I reach for my emergency footwear (flip flops tucked away in my file cabinet), even when I ventured out of the office to grab lunch.

So expect to see a lot more of these pretties!

I am back... for real this time!

Just a quick post to let you know that blogging will start back up shortly. A week ago I finally got around to ordering my own home desktop computer (as opposed to my work issued laptop that I was going to blog with but then decided against it). We got the giant widescreen monitor two days ago and, according to UPS, the rest of the computer will be delivered today! Yippee!

On another note, this blog will be getting a new format! No more will it just be me blogging, but a good friend who just moved back to Seattle will be taking over half of the blogging! This was always in the works, we just had to wait until she got settled and got some annoying little test out of the way.

We just need to get organized, work out some logistics, and away we will go!

So stay tuned!

A Sale and an OOTD

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. My weekend was ok... Seattle has been having some very bad weather. And I know that Seattle is supposed to rain a lot, and I accept that. But this weather is definitely not normal. This time of the year we are usually dry and in the 70s... but lately it has been nothing but rain with temps in the mid 50s. It is seriously bumming me out.

And I have so many lovely warm weather pieces in my closet that I keep reaching for, but am forced to put back when I look out the window. Sigh.

Anyways, my OOTD is a straight up copy from the catalog. I think it turned out pretty darn cute. Though there was a whole lot of ruffles going on!

Blouse: Anthropologie Dollops of Cream Blouse (scored on sale for $29.99)
Sweater: Anthropologie Bougainvillea Cardigan (Bought on sale for $69.99)
Belt: Anthropologie Snakebite Belt in brown ($32.00 Online)
Skirt: Old Old Old Gap maybe?? (we are talking 2004ish)
Tights: Black tights by Hue (Nordstrom)
Boots: J. Crew Tall Black Boots (Bought on sale, now sold out)

On another note, Anthro is mixing things up with their sale schedule. Tricky, tricky Anthro! Lots of great stuff went on sale today including the much coveted Cartography Cardigan (just in time for a PA for me) and the Wind Catcher Dress which I will be wearing as a bridesmaids dress this summer.

And an even more exciting note, I should have a package on my doorstep with the Time Goes By Dress and the Dusky Roads Mary Janes!!! These have not hit stores yet so I have not seen any reviews. I am really crossing my fingers (and toes) that I will not be sized out of the mary janes. It is so hard to find shoes to fit my teeny tiny feet!

More Scallops and a PSA

Happy Hump Day!

This weekend could not come fast enough. I have high hopes of taking Friday off (or at least Friday afternoon) and extending my three day weekend just a little bit longer.

Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday. When I got home I had a package waiting for me. And inside that package was the Horizon Line Dress in the shell color combo that I purchased from eBay. So instead of taking a picture of my OOTD, I immediately ripped open the package to try my new dress on. Then I was lured in by my sweatpants and over-sized tee.

The dress really is pretty, and I already knew it would fit because I settled for the dress in the orange/black combo when I could not find the shell color. The plan was for me to then sell the orange/black combo. But I love that one too much so I am going to keep it!

I actually planned on wearing the shell colored dress today, but Seattle's weather is much more October than May right now (which is seriously bumming be out!). So instead of grabbing my new dress, I grabbed my "old" dress instead.

This is just how I would dress for a cold October day, except add black sweater tights.
Dress: Anthropologie Horizon Line Dress (2009)
Cardigan: J. Crew Jackie Cardigan in Black
Shoes: Jeffrey Cambell T-Straps

And as a Public Service Announcement: So You Think You Can Dance, one of my most loved shows, premiers tomorrow night! I thought they have moved it to the fall lineup so was not expecting it until October. Luckily I caught a commercial (rare in the era of DVR).

OOTD- Stripes and Scallops

Happy Monday!

Seattle weather has been very moody lately, and I can't be too sure what kind of tricks it might play on me. Today I ignored the forecast, which predicted rain and cold, and wore something more Spring like. Though I did top my outfit off with a wool cardigan just in case.

I am happy to report that the sun did show up, at lease for a large part of the day. It was still chilly, so that cardigan came in handy.

This OOTD features the amazing scalloped clouds skirt from earlier this year. I picked this pretty up when I was in New York right before it hit sale- I had a feeling it would. I debated and debated between my normal size, 4, and one size up... I ended up with a 4 (after buying both, sitting on it, and then returning the 6), but now I really wish I had gone with the 6. You can't tell from the picture, but the skirt does this odd bulging thing at the top. The 6 did the same thing, but I am thinking I would have been less annoyed by it in the 6. Oh well, it is nothing that my trusty Snakebite belt can't hide.

Skirt: Anthropologie Scalloped Clouds Skirt
Shirt: Nordstrom Rack Stipped Tee by Splendid ($16!!!)
Cardigan: Navy Wool United Colors of Benetton (old, old, old)
Belt: Anthropologie Snakebite Belt in Grey (now on sale, though back ordered)
Shoes: Blue Patent Peep Toes by Two Lips (2008- bought on super sale)
Necklace: Anthropologie- can't remember the name Gilded Impatiens Necklace (Now on sale, $20.00 here)

Despite last weeks much hyped, but very disappointing sale (in which I bought nothing- just grabbed a quick PA), I am happy to hear rumors of a sale just for Memorial Day Weekend! Though my wallet could definitely use a break.

Tonight is the premier of the Bachelorette with Ali, who left the last season of The Bachelor for her job. It all worked out in the end because Jake is a major tool (he and Vienna deserve each other), and Ali gets to be the Bachelorette!
