Not So Sunny in Seattle

It seems as if fall is finally here in Seattle.  I had high hopes that summer would return but given the 7 day forecast of rain, rain, and more rain, it seems like it's finally over.  However, I am looking forward to the leaves changing, being cozy, wearing sweaters and boots....wait...are those all the good things that come with fall?? In that case, I would rather have summer!!

Yesterday was decently nice outside and in an effort to have a little change of scenery a friend and I went to sit outside and have a beer at this new bar called Auto Battery which is on roughly 11th and Madison next to a hot dog "restaurant" called Po Dog.  They had a pretty good scene going on, granted I was there from 1pm-5pm using my computer and looking like a general Seattle square.  It was an old garage converted to a bar and they maintained some of the original garage "charm." They have pool tables, shuffle board, and air hockey and the whole place comes complete with tire marks on the floor.  I think given the general hipster vibe of capitol hill it is a welcomed addition and, as an added bonus, you can get hot dogs from next door.  I didn't try a dog (or veggie dog in my case) but the menu is very creative and they looked delicious from what I could tell by craning my neck to see the tables around me (something I can usually be found doing quite frequently).

That's all I have for today.  I tried so hard to put together a cute outfit but I had one of those days where I tried on a million things and ended up with jeans and flats so it's definitely not photo worthy.  However, tomorrow J and I are meeting up with another friend for sushi at one of our favorite places and there will definitely be photos of us, photos of sushi, and a good review of Umi!

Happy Fall! G

Buyers Remorse?

Meet the newest residents of my closet...

Anthropologie Loose Rein Boots, Size 6 ($268)

I stopped by Anthropologie to return my black Circle the Globe Skirt ($68) because I never wore it and my Ruffle-Hemmed Crops ($128)  because they did not fit right. Sorry G! I know you loved these on me, but they just didn't sit right!

The plan was to take the refund which I kind of, sort of, technically already spent some of on Thursday's sale but I had some time to kill (if I pay for an hours worth of parking, I am going to use the entire hours worth of parking). I didn't feel much like trying on clothes, so I decided to try on boots. I fell in love with the color and details of Anthro's Loose Rein Boots. Sigh, with the refund/exchange money bruning a hole in my pocket I never had a chance. I am still not sure how practical these are for my life, so I will sit on them for a bit and see what happens. If I reach for them within 3 weeks, they stay. If not, back they go.

Finally making this happen!

Hello and good day to all!  I feel like some type of myth or enigma because J has been speaking of my presence for a while now but I have yet to make an appearance.  Well the moment is finally here.  My name is G and I too live in Seattle.  I just moved back after being gone, off and on, for a few years but I couldn't be more happy to call Seattle my home once again.  A little about me....I love to cook, eat, try new recipes...I guess I generally love food, I also have a love for fashion which manifests itself in a similar way to J's style (although I will set forth a disclaimer...she is the better put together person in this friendship...see outfit below).  I like to try new restaurants (part of my love for food) and basically participate in the exciting city of Seattle as frequently as possible.  I also have an adorable sheltie puppy named Maple who is 7 months old, who I absolutely love!

Okay, enough about me (wait...isn't that kind of what blogs are all about...oh well).  I guess my first entry will take a more traditional format...an OOTD (outfit of the day for all those readers, read: my mom, who don't speak in online lingo).  In an effort to eek as much out of this summer weather as possible, before we head into our 6 month gray period in Seattle, I am wearing something summery.

Sweater: Banana Republic Winter/Spring '10
Shorts: Banana Republic Summer '09
Shirt: Anthropologie Spring/Summer '10
Sandals: Macys Spring '10
Earings: vintage gift. Ring: boutique (too bad you can't see either)
***shoot....you can see the piles of laundry on my floor...it's laundry day...but not a good first impression I must say.

I am going to have to get better at remembering where/when/the names of my clothing items.

Well, that's all for now but since J and I are doing this together we're going to hold each other accountable to blog regularly, I am thrilled we are finally making this happen!!

Things are changing around here...

Please excuse the construction as we continue to work out the kinks of our blog makeover.

Be sure to stay tuned for Grete's blogging debut to follow shortly.

In the mean time, I will leave you with a question to ponder...

Is it crazy to own the same shoe is 3 different color ways?

I think not... but I might be biased.

OOTD and a Shoe Love Story

I totally "stole" this outfit from a reader submission to Anthroholic's weekly reader outfit post. But it was so cute! And I had both of the main pieces. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself!

Dress: Anthropologie Perilla Dress in beige, Small (Bought on sale, $60)
Cardigan: Anthropologie Blooming Latice Cardigan, Small (Bought on sale, $50)
Shoes: Anthropologie Waving Grains Pumps, Size 5 ($148)

Getting my hands on these shoes was an ordeal! I knew I wanted them the second I saw them (they don't make many pumps in a size 5!) but I waited just a little too long (why? why do I do this to myself!?!?!?)... they were sold out before I could buy them! I panicked and bought the 5 1/2 hoping they would work. As I was waiting for my shoes to arrive, I saw a couple reviews go up on the website saying they ran big! My heart sank!

And of course, they were too big! I called CS and begged them to tell me these shoes would be reordered or to at least locate a store that had one lonely size 5 return. No such luck. I called bright and early every Monday morning for at least a month! Nothing. As hope vanished, I clung to my pair of 5 1/2s, refusing to admit defeat. I started researching methods of making shoes that were just a little to big, work.

Then, after diligently checking my wish list for a pop up- there they were! I couldn’t believe my eyes! My fingers were speed dialing CS before my mind even recognized what was going on. A lovely lady helped me place the order, warning me that there was just one shoe in stock, and my order might get canceled. I confidently told her that I knew that would not happen - these shoes were meant to be!

And readers, we were meant to be! They fit perfectly, and they are so comfortable! I wore them all day, and not once did I reach for my emergency footwear (flip flops tucked away in my file cabinet), even when I ventured out of the office to grab lunch.

So expect to see a lot more of these pretties!

I am back... for real this time!

Just a quick post to let you know that blogging will start back up shortly. A week ago I finally got around to ordering my own home desktop computer (as opposed to my work issued laptop that I was going to blog with but then decided against it). We got the giant widescreen monitor two days ago and, according to UPS, the rest of the computer will be delivered today! Yippee!

On another note, this blog will be getting a new format! No more will it just be me blogging, but a good friend who just moved back to Seattle will be taking over half of the blogging! This was always in the works, we just had to wait until she got settled and got some annoying little test out of the way.

We just need to get organized, work out some logistics, and away we will go!

So stay tuned!
