More Scallops and a PSA

Happy Hump Day!

This weekend could not come fast enough. I have high hopes of taking Friday off (or at least Friday afternoon) and extending my three day weekend just a little bit longer.

Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday. When I got home I had a package waiting for me. And inside that package was the Horizon Line Dress in the shell color combo that I purchased from eBay. So instead of taking a picture of my OOTD, I immediately ripped open the package to try my new dress on. Then I was lured in by my sweatpants and over-sized tee.

The dress really is pretty, and I already knew it would fit because I settled for the dress in the orange/black combo when I could not find the shell color. The plan was for me to then sell the orange/black combo. But I love that one too much so I am going to keep it!

I actually planned on wearing the shell colored dress today, but Seattle's weather is much more October than May right now (which is seriously bumming be out!). So instead of grabbing my new dress, I grabbed my "old" dress instead.

This is just how I would dress for a cold October day, except add black sweater tights.
Dress: Anthropologie Horizon Line Dress (2009)
Cardigan: J. Crew Jackie Cardigan in Black
Shoes: Jeffrey Cambell T-Straps

And as a Public Service Announcement: So You Think You Can Dance, one of my most loved shows, premiers tomorrow night! I thought they have moved it to the fall lineup so was not expecting it until October. Luckily I caught a commercial (rare in the era of DVR).

OOTD- Stripes and Scallops

Happy Monday!

Seattle weather has been very moody lately, and I can't be too sure what kind of tricks it might play on me. Today I ignored the forecast, which predicted rain and cold, and wore something more Spring like. Though I did top my outfit off with a wool cardigan just in case.

I am happy to report that the sun did show up, at lease for a large part of the day. It was still chilly, so that cardigan came in handy.

This OOTD features the amazing scalloped clouds skirt from earlier this year. I picked this pretty up when I was in New York right before it hit sale- I had a feeling it would. I debated and debated between my normal size, 4, and one size up... I ended up with a 4 (after buying both, sitting on it, and then returning the 6), but now I really wish I had gone with the 6. You can't tell from the picture, but the skirt does this odd bulging thing at the top. The 6 did the same thing, but I am thinking I would have been less annoyed by it in the 6. Oh well, it is nothing that my trusty Snakebite belt can't hide.

Skirt: Anthropologie Scalloped Clouds Skirt
Shirt: Nordstrom Rack Stipped Tee by Splendid ($16!!!)
Cardigan: Navy Wool United Colors of Benetton (old, old, old)
Belt: Anthropologie Snakebite Belt in Grey (now on sale, though back ordered)
Shoes: Blue Patent Peep Toes by Two Lips (2008- bought on super sale)
Necklace: Anthropologie- can't remember the name Gilded Impatiens Necklace (Now on sale, $20.00 here)

Despite last weeks much hyped, but very disappointing sale (in which I bought nothing- just grabbed a quick PA), I am happy to hear rumors of a sale just for Memorial Day Weekend! Though my wallet could definitely use a break.

Tonight is the premier of the Bachelorette with Ali, who left the last season of The Bachelor for her job. It all worked out in the end because Jake is a major tool (he and Vienna deserve each other), and Ali gets to be the Bachelorette!

And I'm Back... Again

Hello readers (if I still have any left...),

Sorry for the long absence. I am currently without my own home computer so blogging can be a little tricky. This will not be a problem for much longer- I order a computer a week or so ago and I should have it sometime this week!

Anyways, I just wanted to post a quick OOTD from last week. I finally wore my Fragrant Valley Dress which I just love! And you can’t tell from the picture, but my shoes have the exact same shade of purple in them! Being “matchy matchy” is so much fun!

Dress: Anthropologie Fragrant Valley Dress (now on sale, sold out online but you should be able to find one in store)
Belt: Anthropologie Snake Bite Belt (also on sale, but back ordered. I HIGHLY recommend this belt and own it in all three colors)
Cardigan: Black Banana Republic
Shoes: Seychelles Veronica T-Straps in “Black Multi”

On another note, I went to my local Anthro today and found the much anticipated Circle the Globe Skirt. These skirts are great, but they are definitely not as great as their much coveted cousins, the Thousand Days Skirt and Great Escape Skirt from last year. The material is much lighter, and the skirt is a tad bit longer- not great for a shorty like me. Also, I am not a fan of an elastic waste band- it shortens the life span of the piece.

I ultimately decided to take home both the black and teal colors in my size just in case they sell out (which they may do based on the blogger buzz)… but I am still hoping that Anthro delivers a version closer to last year’s version come August when they start rolling out fall clothing.

And I still owe you guys a picture of my OOTD for my birthday trip to the zoo- I am waiting on my friends to email me pictures.

So, stay tuned!

OOTD

I wrote this post yesterday, but just got around to posting it.
***

Happy Thursday everyone!

I am itching for the weekend in a bad way. Something about this work week was just plain slow. I don't know if it is lack of sleep (though I thought I was getting enough), the poor weather, or the fact that I have not had a real vacation since August. Something was just off  for me this week. And it really feels like Friday, rather than Thursday.

I am hoping that a nice, fun weekend will do the trick. Saturday is my birthday (!!!) and I will be going to one of my favorite places- the zoo! And I already have my outfit planned, so stay tuned for that one.

On to today's OOTD-

I loved the print on this dress the moment I saw it last year. Nothing was going to stop me from bringing it home. I shopped smart, and used a 40% off promotion so it was a great deal. I am not sure the shape is the best for me because it seems to make me look extra "hippy," but the print makes me extra "happy" so it balances out.

As for the cardigan, it will be retired once I find a suitable replacement. Something about the way it fits in the shoulders makes it very hard to wear. I kind of hate it. But it is my only brown cardigan. I think I will grab my favorite Jackie cardigan in a chocolate brown the next time I see one.

Dress: Banana Republic (2009)
Cardigan: Anthropologie (2008?)
Blouse: Anthropologie (2007?)
Tights: Brown tights by Hue
Shoes: Jeffery Campbell

On a side note, I found the amazing, gorgeous, lovely Conch Shell Skirt on eBay with a BIN! I jumped on it without really thinking. And, oh boy, it is going to be mine! I am so excited! The catch is that it is a size 8, so I am going to have to get it tailored to my normal size (4). So worth it! This skirt is gorgeous, and it is something that will stay in my closet for years and years.

"Bad Outfit Day"

Ugg! Today was a outfit disaster. I had planned to wear a striped blouse that I bought on sale yesterday, but it turns out that it made me look huge! I swear, Anthro has magical dressing room mirrors designed to sell, sell, sell. I have decided to play around with the top when I get home to see if I can make it work. If not, it is going right back.

I had paired the top with black capris and black pumps, so in the end I just threw another stripped top on and ran out the door because I was late. I guess I did not "run" fast enough, because I missed my bus by 30 seconds (I hate that!). I had to walk a couple blocks to another stop to catch a different bus.

By the time I got to the bus stop my feet hurt, and I was freezing (Seattle is convinced it is October right now). Thankfully, I had my Uggs (which I always bring with me should any unexpected long distance walking come up). I threw them on, and that is where they stayed for the rest of the day. My Uggs stayed on as I worked in my office, as I ran out to grab lunch, and as I attended a meeting. Each time I had to leave the comfort of my office I toyed with the idea of switching to heels, but the very thought would illicit an involuntary shudder in anticipation of cold.

Yup, I wore Uggs with black capris around the office. And no, I will not post a picture.

*****************
On a side note, I want to send a big congrats to my friend Grete who just completed grad school today! I am so excited for her. But more so because she is moving back to Seattle! She is a fellow Anthro Addict, and you can bet that we have a lot of shopping in our future together.

SALE CRAZY and my OOTD!

Today was a great day in the sale department! Anthropologie marked down tons of items from my wish list in the wee wee hours this morning.

I may have shown up at my local store right before closing last night. And I may have followed around the SA who was pulling items from the floor onto a rolling rack to be marked down in back. And I may have been hiding on the other side of that rack quietly pulling items in my size as she added them. And I may have put my pile of loot on hold for me to pick up today at the new marked down price! I may have looked a little crazy, but that, folks, is how you do an Anthro sale right!

My loot (all at sale price): Fragrant Valley Dress, Optical Illusion Dress, Wright Dress (!!!), Fifth Form Shift, Snow Covered Fields Dress, Oleander Cuff, a top by Velvet, and a top by Sine.

Considering I had purchased the Fragrant Valley Dress, Wright Dress, Fifth Form Shift, and Snow Covered Fields Dress AT FULL PRICE (what was I thinking!?!?) I made out like a crazy person. I just had to act like a crazy person to make it happen. I successfully obtained price adjustments on all items. I am not going to lie, I am a little giddy.
Stay tuned for future OOTD featuring the above named items... Now on to today's OOTD:

Cardigan: J. Crew Jackie Cardi in Turquoise
Top: Anthropologie Waltzing Daffodil Blouse (or something like that)
Pants: Banana Republic Petite Martin Fit Trouser
Shoes: Cole Hann Nike Air Black Peep Toes (Nordstrom Rack!)
Watch: Swiss
Necklace: Anthropologie (cant find on the website yet)

PS A special thanks to my friend Melissa who found a coveted Snow Covered Fields dress in my size in New York. Thanks to her, I was able to get that PA! Yay for teamwork!

OOTD + Early Sale!

Guess whose Anthropologie Birthday Discount came in the mail today! I am generating a wish list for my onetime 15% discount!

Today's outfit features the Side Step Skirt which I scored from a fellow blogger. It is a size too big, so it will have to be altered, but I could not wait to wear it. I have been searching for this skirt for a long time, so I was thrilled when it came in the mail last week.

Skirt: Anthropologie Side Step Skirt
Blouse: Anthropologie White Button Up (2006?)
Cardigan: J. Crew Navy Wool Cardi (2006?)
Shoes: Steve Madden Black Mary Janes

Also, I stopped by Anthro tonight to exchange a cardigan that had damage after one wear and I spied some sale items! I left with the Fragrant Valley Dress (which I already have, but paid full price- I will return the full price one tomorrow) and the Fiber Optics Dress! Both were 1/2 off! Oh, I love sales!
